Up a creek in floodwaters

December 10, 2012

During the big deluge two weeks ago, Marin’s creeks were raging with water at a capacity rarely seen so early in the winter season.

While floods swamped neighborhoods around the Bay Area, I got a close up view of picturesque Cascade Canyon, where San Anselmo Creek was tunneling water downstream and threatening to swamp San Anselmo.

Central Marin reservoirs have never in recorded history been this full before the new year. The rains have opened a debate in San Anselmo about how the town can be more proactive in the face of rising waters.
